Mobile Network LED indicator statuses

Keenetic Runner 4G (KN-2211) router has the Mobile Network LTE-LED-01.png indicator on the housing.

LTE-LED-02.png

The indicator shows the connection status and signal strength of the cellular network:

  • Solid green — Good signal strength.

  • Blinking green — The traffic counter reached the data limit level on the metered mobile broadband network connection. The mobile network disconnected.

  • Solid blue — Weak signal strength.

  • Blinking blue — Connecting to a mobile broadband network.

  • Solid red — Invalid or missing SIM card, or incorrect PIN code.

  • Off — The built-in 4G modem is disabled.

The signal strength is indicated by an RSSI value.

RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) is an indicator of the strength of the signal received by the modem. The value is measured in dBm. The minimum value acceptable for network operation is -85 dBm.

Importante

The higher the RSSI number, or the less negative it is, the stronger the signal strength (e.g. a value of -45 is greater than -80). The RSSI indicates the power level of the signal received by the modem, not the power level of the base station signal.

The green light is on when RSSI >= -75 dBm, and the blue light is on when RSSI < -75 dBm.

The following are approximate RSSI values and their evaluation:

  • Outstanding performance: RSSI up to -65

  • Good: RSSI between -65 and -75

  • OK performance: RSSI -75 to -85

  • Poor: RSSI falling below -85

Nota

The figures are not absolute values. Determination of exact values, in this case, is impossible because LTE connection quality depends not only on the given parameters but also on a number of other factors (base station load, quality of equipment in the base station, weather conditions, etc.). The estimation of parameters is conditional (subjective) and based on our practical experience and data received from users.
