Connecting ZTE MF79RU USB modem

After upgrading the operating system of a Keenetic router to KeeneticOS 3.7 and higher, a ZTE MF79RU USB modem connected to the router may report in 'Not ready' status.

The issue is that in some modems (ZTE MF79U/MF79RU, , Huawei E5785Lh-22c) access to WEB/API configuration is protected by password, and most likely, this problem lies in the password of the modem itself. Assign an admin password for access to the USB modem web interface (it should be done directly in the USB modem management interface). After that, check the operation of the USB modem in the router.

Another option, install KeeneticOS version 3.8 or higher in the router, in which commands have been added to change the password, with which Keenetic will poll the USB modem.

Then, in the router's command-line interface (CLI), sequentially execute the commands:

interface CdcEthernet0 web-api login admin - set modem login
interface CdcEthernet0 web-api password admin - set modem password
system configuration save - save settings

where CdcEthernet0 is the modem interface.

If this recommendation does not help, please send us the diagnostic file self-test.txt, saved in the web interface of your Keenetic router in the ManagementDiagnostics section (3~4 minutes after connecting the modem to the router).
